The contest has three categories:
- Apple Pie
- Blueberry Pie
- “Wild Pie” (open category)
Pie bakers may enter in any category and there are no age restrictions.
Within each category, there will be first and second place prizes, as well as an overall Grand Champion!
Pies will be judged by a panel of three local judges, who will be kept anonymous until the event.
The prizes are as follows:
- Second Place (3 winners, 1 from each category): A certificate worthy of a frame (or spot on the refrigerator)
- First Place (3 winners, 1 from each category): A certificate, plus a $10 cash prize!
- Grand Champion (1 overall winner): A certificate, plus a $25 cash prize and the coveted Canterbury Fair Pie Contest Pie Tin!
The Grand Champion will have their name and the date engraved on the Pie Tin. The Pie Tin will be prominently displayed at the Canterbury Country Store until next year’s contest, at which point the new Grand Champion will have their name and the date engraved, and so on.
